Two pipes (1, 2) are joined by sliding one inside the other, with a clamp (3) then fixed around the outside. The ends (1', 2') of the pipes (1, 2) are cut off at an angle, so their edges are parallel to one another. The inner pipe (1) is slid so far into the outer (2) such that the rearmost corner (1") of the inner pipe does not reach the vertical plane passing through the rearmost corner (2") of the outer pipe. When the clamp (3) is removed, the pipes (1, 2) may be separated by first kinking them out of the straight line in which they lie.
