Prodn. of a series of different analytical reagent solns. contg. a large number of components, comprises applying different reagents to solid, divisible carrier material from which the reagent is easily dissolved out so that each vol. or wt. portion of the carrier contains a predetermined amt. of reagent. Each carrier contains only one reagent, and the impregnated carriers are then stored together as in a magazine. To prepare a partic. soln., the required amts. of carriers are taken out of the magazine and introduced into the reagent solvent. Suitable carriers are papers or films which can be cut or punched, or particles with porous surface layers which can be counted out or measured volumetrically. Used esp. for automatic clinical assays. The measurements of required amts. of reagent are simplified and very rapid.
