A crude titanium dioxide was prepared by hydrolyzing titanium sulfate obtained from ilmenite. thus, 1l aq. soln. of 200g titanium dioxide insulfuric acid was heated to 90≦̸C-b.p. fcr 1-2 hr, and filtrated. The filtrate was hydrolyzed at 90≦̸C-b.p. and added acid solution in 5-8 hr to give titanium dioxide with < 1,500 of color index.
