PURPOSE:To obtain a safe and useful antitumor agent or adjuvant, by removing the solid content from crushed bacterium bodies of tubercle bacilli into an extract while retaining the high antitumor activity with low toxicity. CONSTITUTION:Bacterium bodies of microrganisms, e.g. Mycobacterium tuberculosis, var. bovis, hominis, or avium, or Mycobacterium smegmatis, which belong to the genus Mycobacterium, are crushed to give a suspension, which is filtered or centrifuged to remove the solid content. Thus, a bacterium extract, which is an active constituent of an antitumor agent, adjuvant or immunological activator, can be obtained. |
