PURPOSE:To realize the large edging pass capacity and to obtain the rolled slab with slight bend, without depressing the capacity of continuous casting or steel manufacture and slabbing, by edging the material with the horizontal caliber roll, and next, by executing the rolling pass to reduce thickness with the vertical smooth roll. CONSTITUTION:The material 2, that is the slab running on the roller conveyer 3 after being manufactured through continuous casting or slabbing-blooming, is edged with the horizontal caliber roll 1 in the rooling mill; in this edging pass, since the material 2 is reduced in the direction of breadth being laid vertically, with the horizontal caliber roll 1, the amount of bend, etc., generated in the slab can be lessened as compared with the conventional horizontal edging pass system. Thus rolled material 2 is next edged with the following vertical smooth roll 4; during this period, the correction pass is executed for straightening the dog-bone shape formed from the side plane toward the middle of the slab at an hourglass type, or otherwise, the thickness reducing rolling pass is executed. |
