An operating-timeswitch is used in conjunction with an on/off switch in order to switch a second load off automatically, a specific time after a first load has been switched off by said on/off switch. Known operating-timeswitches have large dimensions so that their installation is complex (costly). The operating-timeswitch according to the invention is so small and flat that it can be inserted into a commercially-available flush-mounted box in addition to the on/off switch. For this purpose, a PTC thermistor element (18) is heated by the current of the load which is controlled by the on/off switch, which PTC thermistor element (18) is fitted in thermally conductive contact on a common metal plate (24) close to a bimetallic switch (20) which is connected in the circuit of the second load. <IMAGE>
