<p>The fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine includes a main combustion chamber (14) above the piston (12) inside the cylinder block (10) and an auxiliary chamber (22) connected to the main chamber by a sloping delivery channel (24). The injection valve (18) is directed vertically downwards towards the main chamber. The spark plug (28) terminates in the auxiliary chamber which has its own injection valve (26). Both these valves are connected to a common pendulum valve (30) connected to the fuel injection pump. This supplies the two valves selectively, depending on the periodic time of an electrical control pulse for the fuel injection. The pendulum valve has one section with a spring-loaded valve member for the main injection valve, and another section for the auxiliary injection valve with its own constant pressure supply connection.</p> |
