<p>The invention relates to an absorbent catamenial appliance comprising, as the absorbing component, a flat rectangular pad composed substantially of air-laid hydrophilic chemical cellulose fibres of conifers, said fibres being of average length 1 to 4 mm and average diameter 0.02 to 0.06 mm, in which the pad has a fibrous structure which is densified by compression perpendicular to its plane so that the apparent density of the structure is from 0.0625 to 0.16 g/cc, advantageously about 0.1 g/cc, and the thickness of the pad is from 3 to 15 mm, advantageously about 9 mm.</p> |
