PURPOSE:To eliminate deviation of dot printing position between a rightward printing and a leftward printing by setting the duration of an encoder pulse to be twice the flight time of a recording stylus of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:A dot printer comprises an encoder, which generates a pulse signal (encoder signal) in a predetermined relationship with printing head physical position changing in accordance with the movement of a printing head, and a recording stylus drive control circuit which receives the encoder pulse and generates drive dignals for accordingly driving a group of recording styluses arranged on the printing head. In the printer, recording stylus drive timings for both rightward and leftward movements are created by the front edge of the encoder pulse, and the duration of the pulse is set to be twice the flight time of the stylus, i.e. the time from the driving of the stylus to its impingement on printing paper. |
