A glass sheet is bent to a relatively sharp angle by (a) forming a groove along the bend line, (b) forming an electrically conductive path along the surface opposite the groove or in the groove, (c) applying a potential across the conductive path, heating the sheet in the region of the groove to its bending pt. and (d) causing the sheet to bend along the groove, pref. by supporting it above the shaping surface of a bending mould. A sharp bend is obtd. with min. distortion for e.g. car rear windows.
|
