PURPOSE:To positively detect foreign matters and flaws attaching to a bottle, by mounting a photoelectric transducer having a large number of light receiving elements and a video signal processor for continuously comparing and discriminating detecting signals between two points detected by means of the transducer. CONSTITUTION:Empty bottles 4 to be reused are carried by means of a conveyor belt 18, and the existence of foreign matters is detected during conveyance. CCD cameras 20A, 20B are arranged at the locations of the angles of 90 deg. to the empty bottle at the reflecting side of a diffusion light source 1, and a range of a-b is inspected by means of one camera 20A and a range of c-d by means of the other camera 20B, thus inspecting the whole bottle drum by means of two cameras. When detecting the mouth portions and relief character portions of the bottles, it is preferable that the bottles 4 are held by means of endless belt conveyors 23, 24, the drive speed of the conveyor 23 is made larger than the other conveyor 24 and the bottles 4 are rotated at low speeds. For example, only the central portions of the pictures of the bottles are each inspected by means of four cameras 25. |
