Control arrangement for the relative motions of a yarn package tube and a thread guide, has a reversing micro-switch the roller arm of which is tripped alternately by one of two tappet bars on a support plate moved and fro on guide rods by a linkage to the thread guide traverse mechanism, whilst the microswitch itself is raised and lowered at right angles to the line of motion of the tappet bar support so as to widen the scope of the tappets. The thread guide mechanism and the motor for the microswitch are operated hydraulically, and a variable pressure pump is regulated by an adjustable cam rail on the tappet support plate.
