[Also in Divisions C4-C5] #-Acetozyethyl ester of p-aminobenzoic acid is prepared by condensing p-nitrobenzoic acid with ethylene chlorohydrin to yield ethylene glycol p-nitrobenzoate which is acetylated to yield the #-acetoxyethyl ester of p-nitrobenzoic acid which is reduced. The #-cinnamoyloxyethyl ester of p-nitro- and -aminobenzoic acids and the #-benzoyloxyethyl ester of p-aminobenzoic acid are similarly prepared.
