When joining sheets together to form a set, it has hitherto been customary, in letterpress printing, to create perforation lines in the sheets. This means that when putting together printed sheets and non-printed sheets in a set, it is not possible to obtain perforations in all the sheets. The perforations in the printed sheets also make it difficult to align the sheets or push them via their edges. In offset printing, for example, it is especially difficlt to create perforation lines in the sheets. The invention provides a novel method, applicable to offset-printed and letterpress-printed sheets and to sheets printed in other ways, for joining sheets together in a pick-up and set-down machine and uses a binder which is applied in the dry state and, after all the sheets in the set have been placed together and supported at the edges, the binder is activated so that joining takes place. A perforation line is preferably created in the whole sheet directly in connection with the activation of the binder. |
