Mfr. of the base of a shoe comprises preparing, in separate operational steps, a relatively thin shoe base outer skin made of wear-resistant, castable or injection-mouldable material, and an inner shoe base component of especially suitable material and combining the same with the outer skin. The inner shoe base component is pref. a polyurethane light-wt. foam, cork, a latex or some such plastics. The wall thickness of the outer skin is not necessarily uniform.
