The detachable holder and return mechanism is for a disc brake shoe, having a pin fixed in a drilling in the caliper and supporting a spring pressing the shoe against it. Mounted on one end of the pin is a bush sliding axially on it for a limited amount and locating it axially in a caliper drilling. The pin (8) slides axially in the bush (12) at least for a distance equal to the necessary clearance. A return spring (11) supported on the caliper (2) acts on the pin in the release direction, its amount of pre-loading being equal to or less than the frictional force between the shoe (19) and pin.
