Insulating system for chimney stack - uses tension in rope to control speed with which bell is pulled up chimney to smooth material against wall

The insulating system covers the inner surface of the chimney by coating with an insulating material introduced from above and compressed with the help of a vibrating bell. The bell is attached to the lower end of a rope (or cable) and pulled up the inside of the chimney thereby compressing the insulating material against the inside of the chimney. The magnitude of the tension in the rope is measured and used to control automatically the speed of the motor-driven winch pulling the bell up the chimney and/or the rate at which the insulating material is fed into the chimney. This control is continuous and maintains constant tension in the rope.
