Prodn. of a colloidal mud bath or mud-like pastes for curative treatment comprises preparing a matured compost of dark brown colour and earthy smell by biological rotting of domestic clarified sludge and a natural C source such as sawdust. The compost contains microorganisms of the classes Actinomycetes, Eubacterine, Myxobacteriae, Myxomycetae, Phycomycetae, Ascomycetae, and Basidiomycetae, and active ingredients (i.e. vitamins, antibiotics, humic acid, humins and fulvic acids). Its water content is about 20 vol.% and for use it is made up with water in approx. 1:2 ratio. Used for treating mycoses, rheumatic and vertebral disorders. The prod. contains more free humic acid than peat and has a higher content of microorganisms which decompose aromatic hydrocarbons. It can be made nearly anywhere (not just near a source of peat) and is easily transported in approx. dry form. After use, the mud can be dewatered and used as fertiliser, opt. after further biological rotting.
|
