In the windows of the mill stand are two hydraulic cylinders each contg. a piston employed to exert pressure on the roll chocks. The two pistons are hollow and possess an internal thread for a pressure spindle, on which a wormwheel is wedged and employed to adjust the total length of the piston and pressure spindle when there is no load on the rolls. Both wormwheels are rotated via two worm spindles driven by one electric motor and forming a single drive unit in a traverse extending from the driving side of the access side of the mil. The invention maintains the advantages of the adjusting unit described in DT2652325 but simplifies the design of the wormwheel driving mechanism.
