<p>A liner or insert for vats and containers used for the wet-treatment of textiles comprises a lattice or grille of massive fluorocarbon polymer staves which are oriented in the direction of travel of the textile material. The staves are rectangular in cross-section, between 4 mm and 20 mm thick, preferably 8 mm -12 mm, and are fixed parallel to each other with a gap between neighbouring staves of 1/4 -1/3 the stave width. They are attached by means of screws or rivets to a series of short cross-bearers, whose lengths are less than the width of the grille and are arraned in staggered fashion across it. The frictional resistance of the fluorocarbon polymer to the movement of the textile material is lower than that of the previously-used stainless steel. It has excellent resistance to chemical attack, particularly by dye-liquors, and collects relatively little lint fro the material being processed.</p> |
