The diagonal strap of the seat belt is fixed with one end to the car body and the other end fixed to the spool of a retractor, which in turn is anchored to a suitable point of the floor. The strap is fitted with a hose-like gliding sheathing having an adequate length covering the contact area of the strap with the user's body. The end of the sheathing far from the fixing point is connected to one end of a spiral spring, while the other end is attached to the fixing point. The gliding protective sheathing is constantly in contact with the user's body, however when the user leans forward, the sheath glides along on the strap eliminating friction between body and strap. When the user returns to normal sitting position, the spring pulls back the sheath to its original position near the fixing point.
