The motor vehicle exhaust gas purifier-cum-silencer has four chambers in series, the first (10) containing water (60) maintained at a set level. This water is pressurised by the gas via an opening (503) above water in the pipe (50) from the engine; flows through a filter (61) to a nozzle (711) downstream of a venturi (504) in the pipe outlet (502) in the second chamber (20). Gas and water droplets swirl around this chamber and the gas plus some smaller droplets flows through an internal pipe (51) into the third (30). There they drive an impeller-type separator (31) and subsequently dry gas flows through the fourth, swirl-type separating, chamber (40) before discharge.
|
