Drying appts. for wet grass - heats grass in steam atmosphere before squeezing some of moisture out

The drier squeezes out part of the moisture content of fresh grass by passing it between compression rollers before delivering to the drying chamber. The fresh grass, which may be wet with dew or rain, is first heated in a steamy atmosphere and then squeezed. Immediately after the latter operation it can be loosened and exposed to a current of drying air. There can be a chamber (1) containing conveyors (3-5, 10-11) continuously delivering and discharging the grass and containing the pair of squeezing rollers (8). A water collection trough (2) divides the chamber in to top moist and bottom dry chambers (7, 9), a steamy atmosphere being created in the top one while drying air is circulated in the bottom one. The rollers are where the grass passes between the chambers.
