The curling tong includes an air directing body (6) which concentrates the hot air stream onto the roller body (4) wherein either the air guide (6) or the roller (4) is axially displaceable. The hair is first wound onto the roller with the air guiding body inoperative so that the hot air current is already drying the hair strands as it is wound up. The air guide body is then pushed forwards for a short time over the roller (or the roller pushed back over the air guide body) so that the hot air stream is directed temporarily onto these hair strands thus practically or entirely drying the rolled-up hair.
