PURPOSE:To coat any of variegated coloring hues of thermosensible coating liquid successively and clearly on a backing material by connecting the coating processes at each of the coaters thereof. CONSTITUTION:Required part of a backing material 1 continually drawn out from its original role A is first coated with color forming coating liquid 5 through the first coater head B and dried up in the first drying unit C. The remaining required part is successively coated with the color forming coating liquid 6 through the second coater head D, dried up in the second drying unit E, and finally, the material is rolled round a reel F. Color forming layers 2, 3 are hereby formed on the backing material 1. The first and the second coater heads B and D are provided with required coating liquid trays 7 and 8, and further equipped with, for example, gravure rolls 9 and 10 respectively for coating the liquids. Cutouts 12 and 12' are provided on the gravure rolls 9 and 10 following the contour of the required part for coating the backing material with the coating liquids. |
