PURPOSE:To regenerate effectively an ion exchange resin by a detergent having excellent detergency power by treating the ion exchange resin which caused ion- fouling, with a regenerant and a detergent in which the detergency component is a water-soluble salt of mercaptosuccinic acid. CONSTITUTION:During the softening treatment of hard water, iron is adsorbed by ion exchange resin. The ion exchange resin which caused iron-fouling, is washed by using simultaneously a regenerant such as brine and a detergent in which the detergency component is a water-soluble salt of mercapto succinic acid such as sodium mercaptosuccinate, to regenerate the resin. The detergent is neutral, and easily dissolves deposits such as iron on the resin to clean rapidly the resin. |
