<p>PURPOSE:To recover metal in a molten state as well as to make an org. chlorine type substance harmless by heating the metal with the substance deposited in an induction electric furnace to vaporization-decompose the substance. CONSTITUTION:Metal with an org. chlorine type substance such as polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) deposited is charged into an induction electric furnace and electrified, whereby the metal is heated with secondary current to vaporization-decompose the harmful PCB. The resulting gas is introduced into a combustion furnace, burned, and absorption-removed with an aq. soln. of caustic soda in an absorption tower. The metal is recovered in a molten state.</p> |
