PURPOSE:To make unnecessary the acceleration meter and tachometer required in the conventional method, and to make possible the detection of tension value of the strip with good accuracy, by arranging the first and second load cells in the looper unit. CONSTITUTION:The looper roll 2 is engaged with the looper arms 31, 32, integrally formed into a straight line on both sides of the swivel shaft 7 located on the same straight line; the arms 31, 32, are respectively attached with the first and second load cells 51, 52 at their tips; the counterbalance 8 of specified mass is attached to the load cell 52. Hereby, the load equivalent to the tension can be calculated, and the actual tension T can be determined by the formula, T=FT/(cosbeta1+cosbeta2). In the formula, beta1, beta2, are the angles to be made by strips being pulled by the roll gaps of the upstream and downstream stands against the load detecting axis, and FT is the load component due to the tension T and is represented as FT=T(cosbeta1 +cosbeta2). The angles beta1, beta2, are the function of the mechanical elements of the looper system and the acting angle theta of the looper, so that angles beta1, beta2, can be determined according to the current technology. Hereby, the tension can be detected with good accuracy without adding any new correction. |
