<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the long-life liquid crystal display device which does not cause characteristic degradation as against sealing work by inorganic adhesive agents, is coloreless and transparent and provides easy-to-see display by forming substrate orientation control films by the silicone polymer containing silphenylene. CONSTITUTION:The silicone polymer having silphenylene bond shown by the formula (R is alkyl, aryl; Ar is aromatic groups; m is 0-5; n is integer) is dissolved in a solvent (benzene, dimethyl formamide, etc.) to form a solution of about 0.5- 50%, and this is coated on a substrate and is then heat treated at about 100-350 deg.C (preferably 150-250 deg.C), whereby the film of thicknesses 0.01-10mu (preferably 0.3-3mu) by the silicone polymer is formed to provide the orientation control film.</p> |
