Gas filter cartridge gaps moulded with external seal ribs - to eliminate need for gaskets between adjacent cartridges

Annular caps for enclosing the ends of cylindrical cartridge filter elements are moulded from plastics materials so that each cap has >=1 annular ribs to form seals between adjacent filters assembled end-to-end. The rib(s) on a cap for the top of a filter have a different radius to the rib(s) on a cap for the base of a filter, so that the ribs of adjacent caps are not directly opposed to one another. Used partic. for cartridge filters for filtering gases, to avoid use of separate gaskets for intermediate seals.
