A honeycombed panel (3) is surrounded with two parallel metal frames (81, 82) having a L-shaped cross-section. The frames are held together by a peripheral adhesive strip (85). The walls of the cells of the honeycomb configuration are lined with a material which swells under the effect of fire, which closes up the panel. Strips (96) are also inserted between the panel and the retaining edges (87, 88) of the frames. These strips provide a joint between the panel and the frames without preventing the panel from contracting under the effect of fire. The device may be placed in ducts or sealed into ventilation openings. <IMAGE>
