A feed attachment for a wrapping machine of the type having a first stage conveyor supplying small articles, such as sweets, in random arrangement, followed by a second stage conveying section in which the articles are sorted into single file for introduction into the wrapping machine. Essentially the second stage conveyor section comprises a rotating disc in a horizontal plane bounded by one or more annular plates, coaxial with the disc and rotating in the same direction but at different speeds, progressively faster moving outwards from the disc. A discharge guide is provided to guide the articles from the first stage supply conveyor, across the disc and annular plates for discharge at the periphery of the outermost annular plate. Preferably the discharge guide takes the form of a spiral rail which conducts the articles outwards from the central disc, across the surfaces of the annular plates. As they move further out, the reach the gradually but increasingly strung out, and reach the outer edge of th final plate spaced one behind the other, ready for discharge into the wrapping machine. |
