The pump has two cylinders running side by side with a filling trough (14) at the head end of the cylinders. The trough opens into a tapered section (53) leading to the cylinder openings. A sector shaped flap valve (61) with rigid side walls (62) is pivoted in the centre of the tapered section and has the side walls extended beyond the circumferential edge (63) so that they abut on end stops (65, 65') in the centre of the tapered section. the flap is moved through a linkage by a hydraulic cylinder (67). The discharge valve is formed by a flap constructed in a similar manner. The construction provides robust valves not easily damaged by the solid constituents of the concrete.
