A constructional toy comprises a 'building element 11, which is rectangular, having at least one, preferably circular, through hole 13, preferably circular, and being provided with teeth, 15, extending outwardly from each lateral side, said teeth being so dimensioned and so positioned that each tooth, 15, can engage either a through hole, 13, or a recess, 17, defined by two adjacent teeth of a similar building element. A kit may be made up of a number of such elements where the axis of the through hole is perpendicular to the plane of the teeth. The element is preferably square with a single through hole so positioned that adjacent teeth of a similar element may engage respectively the through hole 13 and a recess, 17, as in Fig. 8. Alternatively the element may be provided with a plurality of through holes arranged in rows and columns extending parallel to the sides, each row or column being engagable by a row of teeth. The teeth are preferably cubiform as in each recess, the length of the side of each tooth being equal to the thickness of the element. The element may be hollow, having cavities which extend inwardly from one or both opposing main surfaces. |
