The installation comprises a light source (1), a vat (41) for receiving a sample of the dyeing bath to be controlled, a vat (42) for receiving a dyeing bath for comparison with adjustable optical transmission, and optical means (2, 3) for directing the light beam from the source (1) alternately through one vat and the other. A light receiver (5) receives the beams after passing through the vats and delivers a signal to an amplifier (6) which supplies a demodulator (7) synchronised with the optical means (3) for distributing the light beam on the vats. This demodulator actuates means (8) which drive a servocontrol device of the optical transmission of the bath to be controlled to the optical transmission of the comparison bath, this servocontrol device detecting a difference in optical transfusion in the two baths in order to allow conditioning of the dyeing bath to be controlled, tending to cancel out this difference. <IMAGE>
