Use of silicone resin adhesives - to laminate glass to cast silicone potting resin in preference to silane primers for mfr. of e.g. solar energy cells

Adhesion between a layer of cast silicone resin and >=1 covers of sheet glass is enhanced by treating the glass with a coating of an adhesive based on a polymerisable silicone resin. Silicone resin adhesive provides a better interfacial key than use of a conventional silane resin as a size for the laminated surface of the glass. Suitable for mfr. of solar energy cells involving photovoltaic cells linked in series and encapsulated between layers of cast silicone resin for insulation, supported on an Al casing lined with reinforced PTFE and carrying a cover of mineral glass.
