<p>In forming a fabric from a thread consisting of a foamed resin on a yarn where junctions between threads are bonded together, the improvement comprises (a) applying a plastisol, contg. foaming agent, as an encapsulating viscous liq. to a filament yarn, (b) drawing the yarn through a sizing die to a selected thickness, and (c) curing the thread partially or fully at a temp. below that at which the foaming agent is activated. The sequence of a (a) (b) and (c) may be repeated one or more times, the aperture of the sizing die being increased by a selected amt. at each repetition of sequence. The fabric has great weathering resistance, the core being protected from solar degradation and also good abrasion resistance. It can be used for outdoor fencing, barrier fences in ski areas, anti-glare fences on roads and depending on the fabric open area, controlled visibility and air flow may be achieved.</p> |
