1,271,386. Aircraft attitude indicators. LEAR SIEGLER Inc. 6 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 23027/69. Heading B7W. An aircraft attitude indicator 30 includes two display surfaces 54, 56, rotatable on axes which are inclined to each other and which co-operate at the front to form a uniform visual display. The display surfaces are provided on flattened hemispheres which diverge at the back allowing a shaft 38 to extend therethrough and rotatably support a housing 40 on which are rotatably mounted the hemispheres 54, 56 on mutually inclined axes 50, 52. The uniform visual display observed through window 34 is formed by the two hemispheres which have teeth 81, 64 which intermesh at the front. The housing 40 contains a control transformer 48 which compares an input from a pitch synchro transmitter with the position of the opposite hemisphere 54 and supplies an error signal to a motor 46 to rotate the hemisphere 54 to a position corresponding to the pitch of the aircraft. |
