[Also in Division E1] A gas-filled chamber 32 for divers is attached to a carriage 50 having sprocket-wheels therein engaging with a chain 17 upon subaqueous ground, a length of the chain being raised according to the buoyancy of the chamber so that as the buoyancy varies the height of the chamber is regulated automatically. One of the sprocket wheels can be electrically driven to propel the chamber along the chain, which may be one of several extending from a hub 20 with separate carriages thereon so that the chamber can be transferred from one chain to another. Alternatively the chamber carries endless chains 82, 83 on sprocket-wheels 86-89 and 92, 93, propulsion being effected by driving the wheels 92, 93. The endless chains may be replaced by tanktype tracks. |
