<p>The sail rig for sailboards is conventional with one sail fitted over a mst with a universally-jointed foot. The sail is made in two parts (11, 12) with a split at boom level from clew to luff, and the boom (13) is a single curved spar. The curved-spar has journal-pin ends aligned with its chord and rests in bearings in mast and clew respectively. These permit some axial movement; the one in the mast embodies a holding device. There is a ratchet arrangement allowing the boom to be locked in any angular position.</p> |
