<p>The height-adjustment mechanism includes a guide tube containing a longitudinally displaceable gas spring (1) braced against the base of the guide tube by a compression spring (21) while a further tension spring (25) is provided which is axially secured opposite the gas spring (1) on one side and the guide tube (2) on the other. The series connection between the compression spring and the tension spring which partially surrounds the gas spring housing ensures that only half the overall force required need be applied by each spring so that the metal springs can be made softer, eg of a thinner spring wire and thus the space required can be reduced for a neater construction.</p> |
