<p>A d.c. -d.c. converter consists of a transformer whose primary circuit is connected to a d.c. voltage source via a periodically switched electronic element. The secondary is connected to a rectifier with a capacitor output. The winding sense of the primary and secondary and the polarity of the rectifier are chosen such that the rectifier is in the non-conducting mode when the switch is closed. There is a diode (D1) in series with the primary winding of the transformer (TA) and an electronic switch (S1). The latter (S1) and the supply are shunted by a coil. There is a second electronic switch (S2) in series with a demagnetising winding (TA3) and a diode (D2), which together by-pass the first switch (S1).</p> |
