Stabilised reference sample for the counting of blood platelets, is obtd. by addn. of a solid polyethylene glycol to a suspension of the platelets and then adding the other constituent to the mixture resulting from the first addn. to give a sample which is stable with time and upon shaking. When the polyethylene-glycol is added to the suspension pref. 10-20 g. of polyethylene-glycol are added per 100 ml of suspension. When the polyethylene-glycol is added to the diluent, 0.1-0.5 g of polyethylene-glycol are used per litre of diluent. The polyethylene glycol reduces surface tension and avoids the adsorption of the platelets, preferred PEGs are those with mol. wt. 4000, 6000 or 20000.
|
