<p>A break-away gear shifting mechanism is used in a truck having a tilt cab (16). A gear shift lever (20) is mounted inside the cab to pivot therewith for disconnection from a gear shift control rod (40) mounted to the truck chassis. The rod (40) carries ball-ended stub shaft (40) for releasable engagement by a socket (21) mounted on the lever (20). The end (43) of the rod (40) is slidably guided into a guide (33) mounted on the cab (16), as the cab is lowered, to engage the socket (21) and the shaft (40). </p> |
