Automatic transfer of yarn bobbins between machines - by means of a mobile carriage having mandrels with variable spacing

A system of transferring yarn packages between machines, partic. bobbins of synthetic yarns from the winding-heads of a spinning machine to the creel of a stretch-twisting or stretch-texturising machine, has on a mobile carriage which can move the length of the winding frame, a series of mandrels mounted on swinging arms, which correspond to the spacing of the winding heads so that bobbins may be slid off the winding heads on to the mandrels of the carriage. At a transfer station, the bobbins are transferred to mobile creels by means of pushers activated by piston-and-cylinder units, after the swinging arms of the carriage have been moved to a new position in which the spacing of the mandrels carrying the bobbins is altered to correspond to that of the spindles on the creels. The transfer of packages between one machine and the next is completely automated, eliminating the need for manual handling of large and heavy bobbins.
