Coating shaped articles, e.g. hard foams, with melt adhesive - to provide strip layer for mechanical anchoring elements, e.g. nails

Substrate layer for mechanical anchoring elements on shaped articles consists of a melt adhesive compsn. capable of performing mechanical work and pref. having residual elasticity. The melt adhesive is pref. applied as a melt onto the shaped article. Substrate layer application, e.g. to hard foam furniture shells, allows the introduction of nails and clamps for fastening upholstery. The layers can take up tensile stresses and resist shearing- and peeling forces.
