<p>A pipe section has elements at its ends for connecting a number of sections together to form a pipeline for the transportation of fluids, esp. oil. The section consists of a tube consisting of resin-bonded inert filaments, which has, close to its ends, male and female screw threads for joining the sections together, whilst close to one end there is a compressible seal. At the opposite end of the section to the compressible seal, the inner surface of the socket is dimensioned to make a joint with the compressible seal which is secured in such a way that an effectively tight joint is brought about by one full turn of the two sections joined together, and ther correspg. axial motion. The pitch of the male and female screw threads relatively to the top angle of the inner sealing surface of the socket, and the size of the permissible play in the diameters, is such that an effective seal is ensured in a zone in which the screw threads engage over >=360 degrees. Arrangement overcomes the difficulties of jointing lightweight pipe sections either by adhesives or by screw threads. No tools are required by the pipe fitter, and the male and female threads can be screwed together by hand. One full turn and the correspg. axial motion ensure an effective joint.
