Sliding wedge actuated press tool - has motor driven adjuster to set initial position of punch by re-positioning wedge

The tool set of a forming press consists of a die and a punch. The punch is actuated by a sliding wedge and the initial position of the punch can be adjusted by moving this wedge. The adjustment is effected by an electric motor which drives the screwed rod through a gear train. The screwed rod is fixed axially so that as it rotates it moves the wedge. The gear train incorporates an hydraulic device to disengage it from the motor during the operation of the press.
