The plant is fitted with cells mounted on housing plate (2) and consisting of air supply (3) and sludge supply flowing in opposite directions. The air enters the cell space (7) via outlet (6) where at a distance (w) a baffle plate (5) is fitted. The sludge is supplied to the cell space (7) via pipe (1) and flows against the conical diverting element (10) fitted on the underside of baffle plate (5). The sludge glides along the conical surface of diverting element (10) and after leaving edge (8) of the diverting element (8) creates a negative pressure in the gap (w) hereby increasing the effect of the pressurised air flow and producing evenly distributed bubbles in the sludge. To further increase this effect, several more baffle plates can be provided with gaps (w) between them and radial slots are provided in the air supply pipe (3) to admit the air into these gaps.
