<p>Two elongate members are connected end to end by circumferential welds joining circumferential portions of the members and longitudinal welds joining longitudinal portions of the members. An end of one of the members is disposed telescopically within an end of the other member. The end of the other member has longitudinal slots provided therein and the longitudinal welds are formed in those slots. The end of the one member may be formed with longitudinal ridges which are disposed in the slots.</p> |
